The talk

I am having a really hard time with this talk thing...why did they ask me to speak? There used to be a time when I would have jumped at the chance. But when they ask me I honestly only said yes cuz this seems to be an automatic response with me for some reason these days. I have no idea what I'm going to say. I don't know if it will be good. I don't even know if anyone will understand me or if I'm going to be preaching some kind of incorrect doctrine or something. What am I doing? Is it too late to back out?

Ha. I'm sure it won't be any worse than some of the stuff I witnessed at the Colonial 2nd when you were there. I'm sure there is some sort of Mormon website where you can buy talks or something. I mean, you guys think of everything! And if not, I think I just found my 'calling' and retirement plan! haha.

Hello Again

I've been conspicuosly absent from this site and thought it was high-time you all got an update. This last week's been an incredibly busy one. My series on Polygamy (The Real Big Love) debuted on the Nightside Project . They played it again several times in the morning and pretty much plugged it all day. Some people are talking award-winning. I really enjoyed putting it together, too. I also got to shoot one of my interviewees with an airsoft gun and we had our Nightside one year anniversary since we've officially been on the air. We're marking that celebration with a fun show tonight. We're pretending to pull archived tape of stuff we've done through the decades. I made mine on Who Shot JR. Oh, and one other thing I'm not supposed to mention, but I'll mention to you. They're talking syndication. By the end of the month we'll broadcast the show on our sister stations in Phoenix, Seattle, and (just for you east coasters) WTOP in DC.

Adventures in waiting around

I'm waiting for my next live hit (15 minutes from now). I've been training to go live on the air for the past three days. The first part right after you've got your interview is a bit nerve racking. You've got to put it into your comp, edit down the sound bytes, send your best bytes into the system we use (4 good ones), then write and voice a tease, then write a lead, and of course write your story, and have all the tech stuff (sound levels, etc) good to go before you get on the air. But after all that there's a little down time after the first hour (and so here I am). I'm currently parked out in front of the KSL studios in the truck with my equipment. I took some time a bit earlier to lay down for 5 minutes under a nearby tree on the edge of the parking lot. As I lay under that tree I contemplated just how many homeless people may have been in the exact spot I was actually laying in just then. Don't Touch My Junk

I am appalled that so many in my generation are ready and willing to roll over and be sexually assaulted (and let their children be sexually assaulted), give up their rights to privacy and ignore their rights as stated in the 4th Amendment all in the name of supposed security at airports. This new TSA measure is outrageous and ineffective. I did not always feel this way. Like so many others, I didn't see the big deal. However, on more careful examination of the 4th Amendment as well as the many, many assaults that have already taken place, and along with an understanding of the measures we really should be taking to ensure our safety, I have changed my mind. This video is of a man who recorded his experience going through TSA. He asked the TSA agent not to "touch his junk".
