Desires of REM

My unconcious life has been more visionary than usual lately. Last night I had a dream that I was walking through this park and there was this guy and there were two other girls. The one girl was nice, and the other girl was big, but pretty, and the guy wanted the big pretty girl. The other girl was sad so I walked with her and let her tell me why it sucked he didn't like her. We were on the sidewalk and now were coming out of a fancy hotel and on our way to a dance, but we passed a fire station that looked like a school. It was dark outside, it was night. We were now dressed in evening attire. Suddenly I was the girl the guy was with and I saw the other girl that was sad, but I thought she was mean, then I was the girl that was sad and I thought the other girl was clueless and was taking away a man I loved. I think dreams are subjective. I'm sure dreambooks sometimes help, but I really think mostly the person has to interpret them for themselves, and they have to intuitive enough to recognize what is going on in the dream.

For me the dream meant I was working something out in my subconcious because it was dark, and the dream was about desire, something I want, and it was also about conflict and perspective on that conflict. The man was simply a token symbol of that conflict, something the two girls, who I became, or at least was able to become a part of, desired. I should also mention there were other people, other observers at the party, and there was a shadowy figure giving advice but I don't remember what it was. It makes me want to pay more attention to my dreams.

God, the universe, and our own subconcious mind all use dreams to communicate to us.

The mostremarkable instances of God using dreams to communicate his will to people are recorded in the history of Jacob (Gen. 28:12; 31:10), Laban (31:24), Joseph (37:9-11), Gideon (Judg. 7), and Solomon (1 Kings 3:5). Other significant dreams are also recorded, such as those of Abimelech (Gen. 20:3-7), Pharaoh's chief butler and baker (40:5), Pharaoh (41:1-8), the Midianites (Judg. 7:13), Nebuchadnezzar (Dan. 2:1; 4:10, 18), the wise men from the east (Matt. 2:12), and Pilate's wife (27:19). To Joseph "the Lord appeared in a dream," and gave him instructions regarding the infant Jesus (Matt. 1:20; 2:12, 13, 19). In a vision of the night a "man of Macedonia" stood before Paul and said, "Come over into Macedonia and help us" (Acts 16:9; see also 18:9; 27:23) References from Dictionary.com

I have had other symbolic and vivid dreams this past week. Some of them felt very real. Then I would wake up and realize it was just a dream. One vision was about the rise of more and more earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes and other natural disasters in the world. They were increasing more and more rapidly into the future and I dreamed it was all in reaction to one another and someone, an angel, or a voice told me it all began with 1998. Your guess on that one is as good as mine.

Have you checked out my dream blog? Saucy Betty and I have been recording our dreams on there since this summer. It's been fun.

Yes, of course, I thought of your blog as I wrote this one actually. Did anyone notice the book of Laban mentioned in that God talking to us in our dreams segment?

That's pretty deep stuff, SJ! So you were the big girl and the small girl, the wanted girl and the unwanted girl, hmmmph. Well, sounds like you see yourself in various, different ways. I have been dreaming a lot lately about having children, three little blonde babies, which in my dream I got from marrying a divorced man, and various other scenarios with these three little blonde kids. Sounds like my clock is ticking...

I've heard if you dream of children they can represent events, and also can represent the truth (like if they point to something, or tell you something). Interesting dream. What do you think it means?

I think mine had to do with work and wanting something I hope I get. But it could also mean something else in my personal life. Or represent something God wants me to learn, that it's really all about perspective, which I've been learning about lately in my life as a whole.

That's really cool...and kinda disturbing. I dream really vividly too, almost every night. I've read your stuff too Ruby G :)

My dreams are really disturbing...shant write it because it would traumatize you, but often involve death or its imminence.

Sometimes death and other disturbing things are actually symbols meant to really grab your attention. They don't necessarily mean bad things, just your mind trying to get you to pay attention to something. If you don't listen it will just try harder. Anyway, that's all the Jungian for today...Wonder what your subconcious/the universe is trying to tell you.

I don't know what my dreaming of kids means, probably just that I have been wanting kids lately! My dreams tend to be just strange revelations of my hopes of fears, for instance if I am really stressed out, I will have dreams that I have hurt someone's feelings or that someone hates me, midly displayed in like dreaming about friends talking behind my back that they hate my hair-do or something like that! ;) When I was a frosh at BYU I used to dream about hamburgers when I was stressed out, thinking about mom's good food I guess!

I think the death thing is indicative of some insecurity, not feeling safe or being secure...often in a relationship. Having difficulty trusting men...or not being able to feel like I can "get away," from a relationship if I need to. Obviously, I have problems. :) And FYI, I haven't died, been chased with a knife, or shot in the last month.

did the knife ever go through you or cut you, like in the heart, in the bowels?
