Green Eggs and Ham Anyone?

My little white and black speckled Americauna laid her first egg today. The "chicken experts" told me none of them would be ready till spring at the earliest. So I patiently waited.

This morning I was out feeding the chickens and couldn't find her. I searched the whole yard and started wondering if something had happened. Then, out from the rabbit hutch she comes, ready to eat with the rest. I was a little surprised to see her in there. She doesn't usually go in there. So I opened up the top and sitting there in a bunch of straw is her very first egg. A green one! Hurray!
