Back in the Saddle again

So I finally got back on the scooter on Sunday. It was terrifying, I was shaky, paranoid even, cars were honking at me for going 20 miles an hour (that felt fast). I drove it to Liberty and people watched.

I got back on it again today. I drove it to work. was forced to cuz my "real" car blew a head gasket. But I got on, drove it in real traffic (State Street). I even got up to 35 mph at one point. Crazy, I know.

Congratulations ... you.

actually the helmets just a barely legal shell kind for bikes, really. I'm ordering a better one with a visor so the wind and sun won't get in my face. I still have to wear flip flops cuz of the damage to my feet (other shoes still hurt) so that's a little dangerous, and I don't like any heavy traffic, but I'm starting to get a better handle on the thing. I just have to be really aware of my surroundings and hope others look out for me.

Riding a scooter wearing flip flops may be dangerous, but it's also commonplace in asia. So you're like keepin' it real, scooter-riding wise.

I even went 40 mph today. Down to Layers clothing for an interview on their new swimsuit line. I know swimsuits are visual, you'll just have to listen to the piece. Anyway, I say this to illustrate how comfortable I'm starting to become. it's still a matter of paying attention to the cars around me (one guy actually did cut me off) and for some reason people in the aves don't seem to know how to drive (i grew up there so i feel the need to call them on their heinous disregard for traffic laws) but over all I'm pretty happy with the majority of cars lookin' out for me.
