Guess what? We're engaged

It was really only a matter of time before my roommate's boyfriend popped the question, and this weekend he did. She swears she had no idea it was coming. Actually, I think I believe her. But the rest of us knew. This makes 4 friends married last year and 4 getting married so far this year. Now, I know what some of you may be thinking. SJ, you live in Provo, these things happen. Actually, out of the 4 that got married last year, none were from Provo and only 2 of the ones currently engaged are in Provo. The other 2 aren't even in Utah.

If it isn't getting married, or engaged, it's having babies. I just ran into a highschool friend who's in my parent's new ward and she is just about ready to pop herself. She's due on Thursday. It's a boy. Her last one (a girl) was 10.7 pounds and she's praying this one isn't that big. I noticed at least 2 other pregnant ladies at church and a whole blessed bundle of babies.

I would like to say there's something in the water. But really, it's just life happening all around me. Only I'm in this "Friends" fashioned singles life and don't realize it till I join the rest of humanity. People living and loving and marrying and making families and growing and getting old and, eventually, dying. It's all part of the cycle. A cycle I am happy to be part of, and happy for my roommate and my other friends who are getting married or recently were married, or are having babies. I'm not going to break out into a round of the Lion King's "Circle of Life" or anything. I'm just saying it's natural and inevitable and this is part of life, only people where I'm at in life don't always see it. But it really does seem beautiful.

I've been thinking about this recently. Crazy ol' circle of life.

I'm beginning to think it's part of the I'm getting old cycle. I have friends having their second kids already and I wonder if I'm going to get a date on Friday night. It's crazy but true. Maybe we all need another Lion King song...Hakuma Matata

It does seem beautiful! Howe do we get in on the action?! And which roomate? The one dating Walt or the one dating Eric? Congratulations to them, I'm going to have to come over and get the full story....

Julie and Walt! They came home and told me last night. But let's face facts - it's only a matter of time before the other two enter that same agreement. Girl, there's just something around me right now and everybody's getting married.

Actually I had this feeling that if I moved in there and took the master bedroom that both my roommates would get married. Weirdness.

yes. it's way cool. but you know everyone has their own style and time and place in ye olde cycle and that's the coolest part of all. you have to do your best to live your life (and i think to make sure you are giving and open) and be happy with the good news in the lives of others--which you clearly are, sj. anyway 2006 is starting off mighty different than 2005 for me and i just keep thinking of this part of this one aimee mann song where she says the oft-quoted "timing is everything." hmm, i should probably send you an email re: . . . stuff.
