It seems no one wants to be associated with the man who bought off Washington. President Bush's re-election campaign will give the American Heart Association thousands of dollars in campaign contributions connected to lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
And Utah Congressman Chris Cannon has agreed to return 2,000 dollars in contributions from the lobbyist. Cannon had refused to refund the contributions earlier but the congressman's chief of staff said that after Abramoff pled guilty Tuesday, it was appropriate to give back the money. Abramoff pled guilty to felony counts of conspiracy, mail fraud and tax evasion, the result of a probe that reportedly could implicate as many as 20 members of Congress.
