My Spiritual Advisor

The boss is in Dallas today. Don't ask what he's doing there. Some defense contracting something or other. Try not to think about it, okay? This means I have some time to study and look into different grad schools. But first, of course, I consulted a psychic medium. It's an online program where you type in your question and it gives you some magic 8 ball answer. I trustingly type, "Should I go to grad school and what should I study?" "We can't all be everything", my medium replies. Whatever, I say. I resubmit my answer, knowing I won't stop until I get the one I want. "You're not all there in the spiritual sense of the word," it spits back. Okay, one more time. "You've been going through some bad times, yeah?" Ummm, hello, medium, this isn't about me and my "bad times". This is about my future. Get it right this time, gosh dang you. What kind of an online psychic medium are you anyway? Okay, "Should I go to grad school and what should I study?" Answer, "Good question, you're good, you're sharp, I'm going to have to watch you". Okay, somewhat relative, albeit unhelpful, though you do seem to recognize my genius. Close enough.

Funny thing how I came upon my spiritual advisor. It was to the side on a website about Nick Hornby, the guy that wrote the book that became the movie, "About a Boy".
